Introduction:
The Poet Robert Burns was born in Alloway, Ayrshire in this small thatched Cottage on 25th.January 1759. His father who built the Cottage had a 7 acre plot which he cultivated as a market garden. The Poet spent his first formative seven years here.

Description:
This oil painting depicts a scene in Burns Cottage possibly in the early 1800's. Seated around the table in the kitchen are four men being served by the landlady. A dog sits by the fire and the recessed bed alcove where the poet was born can be seen.
