Corner cupboard from Burns House

Introduction:
This large corner cupboard dates from the late 18th century and is part of the furnishings of the kitchen in Robert Burns' last home in Burns Street, Dumfries. It is typical of the style of domestic furniture which his family would have owned.

Description:
Robert Burns and his family moved into this house in May 1793. The house had a parlour, kitchen and two bedrooms and was well furnished and comfortable. The kitchen had a flagged sandstone floor, wall press and a fireplace range for cooking.
