Description:

This is a photograph from the Burns Club Supper in Bergen, Norway. This part of the proceedings is the "Address to the Haggis". The speaker gives their rendition of  "To a Haggis", and with their knife poised on cue ("His knife see Rustic-labour dight"), cuts the casing along its length.

Secretary of the Bergen Burns Club was Mrs Nellie Kristiansen. Nellie was the wife of Arnlijor Kristiansen, a merchant seaman who joined the Norwegian Army at Dumfries in 1940. Arnlijor married Nellie in June 1941, at a ceremony held in Norway House at Burns Statue. When the war was over the couple settled in Bergen.
