Description:
It is a typical farm cottage, described by Burns as an 'auld clay biggin'. The clay walls have been harled and whitewashed and the roof is thatched. It has been preserved as a place of pilgrimage since 1820. When this photograph was taken, it was also a licensed wine and spirit shop.
