Burns Centenary commemorative glazed and mirrored panel

Introduction:
Robert Burns (1759-96) was Scotland's National Poet who was born in a small thatched cottage in Alloway, Ayrshire. During a short period the farmer poet wrote a wealth of songs and poems. He died in Dumfries of heart disease aged only 37 years.

Description:
This commemorative glazed and mirrored souvenir of the bicentenary of the Poet in 1859 contains a wax impression of the Poet's Seal. This seal was commissioned and designed by the poet.
