Auld Kirk, Alloway

Introduction:
This church was already in ruins in the 18th century when Robert Burns' family lived in Alloway, but the churchyard was still used for burials. Burns' father is buried there. It was immortalised in Burns' poem 'Tam o'Shanter' as the site of the witches' dance.
