Jean Armour was the daughter of a stonemason in Mauchline, Ayrshire, where she met Robert Burns in 1784.

A teapot once the possession of Jean Armour, wife of Robert Burns. Made about 1810, it was owned for a period by Mrs Duncan of Saltcoats.
